Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse (1901)
In 1991, businessman Tony Albritton had the vision to see that the run down and unused Knights of Columbus Hall outside of town was an opportunity. The old Knights of Columbus Hall was actually a historical building: The Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse. Many of the Imperial County's oldest families graduated from the Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse. Tony's vision was to create a premier venue in Imperial County. He had the skill set to totally rebuild and remodel the Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse in to an entertainment venue. In 2011, with the help of his best friend and business partner: Brad Bening, Tony embarked on a stunning addition to the facility, adding 10,000 square feet to create a stunning building of his design, and much of the work done was with his own skill as a finish carpenter, plumber and electrician. He created an amazing venue for friends and family to enjoy, and was so proud of his accomplishment. The historic Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse is a remarkable historic landmark restored and is now a big part of the history of Imperial County.
When Tony passed away in 2019, his business partner- Brad Bening & his wife Heather Bening took over the business, until it was sold May of 2025 to valley locals: Dr. Jeffrey & Jaymee Chan.

About the Chans
Since taking over the Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse in May 2025, Dr. Jeffrey & Jaymee Chan have thoughtfully reimagined the venue—blending historic charm with modern elegance. Their vision has brought stunning upgrades to the property, including new ceilings, bar remodel, countless renovations, immersive floor-to-ceiling video walls, a grand outdoor gazebo, and an elevated culinary menu selection designed to enhance every celebration.
Valley locals at heart, the Chans are deeply rooted in the Imperial Valley community. Dr. Jeffrey Chan, a nurse practitioner, is a respected healthcare leader and entrepreneur who owns and operates several businesses throughout the county. His commitment to service and community development is reflected in every aspect of the venue’s growth.
Jaymee Chan brings a rare blend of clinical expertise, culinary mastery, and hospitality leadership. A psychiatric nurse by profession, she is also a classically trained chef and seasoned hotel and restaurant entrepreneur with decades of experience. A graduate of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management in the late 1990s, Jaymee is an award-winning chef who earned international recognition as a winner of Chefs on Parade, a prestigious global culinary competition. She was also a judge for the Food Summit Culinary Competition by IVROP for the year 2024 and 2025.
Under Jaymee’s direction, the Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse menu has been thoughtfully refreshed and expanded, introducing new signature dishes that reflect both creativity and refined taste. Together, Jeffrey and Jaymee continue to elevate Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse into a destination where unforgettable moments, exceptional dining, and heartfelt hospitality come together.
